POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ART DAY SALE, PARIS 

The Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale in Paris achieved a total of  £7,994,798 / €9,257,976 / $9,737,664, selling 96% by value and 87% by lot

Germaine Richier, L'Echiquier - petit led the sale, realising £479,424 / $583,312 / €554,400, which was more than three times the low estimate

The sale exceeded expectations with 67% of lots selling above the high estimate

A new world auction record for Olivier Mosset was set with Sans Titre : €151,200 / £130,704 / $158,610 

Further highlights include:

         Jean Paul Riopelle, Sans titre: €327,600 / £283,148 / $343,655 

         Josef Sima, Le ciel de pierre: €365,400 / £315,869 / $382,977 and Paysage: €352,800 / £305,279 / $369,771

IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN ART DAY AND WORKS ON PAPER SALE, LONDON

The Impressionist and Modern Art Day and Works on Paper Sale in London achieved £14,976,174 / €17,342,409 / $18,240,980, and was sold 87% by value and 80% by lot 

The sale was led by Paul Gauguin’s Vue de Rouen, which realised £1,992,000

PICASSO

Pablo Picasso’s Femme nue assise realised more than double its low estimate, selling for £882,000

Pablo Picasso’s Femme nue couchée (£252,000)

Pablo Picasso’s Femme drapée debout achieved £315,000, more than double its high estimate

COLLECTIONS

German art performed well, with the Deutsche Bank Collection today realising a total of £776,916 and taking the running total to £6,297,554

            The selection within the Day and Works on Paper Sale was highlighted by Oskar Schlemmer Sitzende nach links (£201,600) 

The Eye Of A Sculptor: Works From The David & Laura Finn Collection realised a total of £7,154,000, sold across the 20th / 21st Century: London Evening Sale as well as the Day and Works on Paper Sale

             The selection presented in the Day and Works on Paper Sale was highlighted by Henry Moore’s Seated Woman with Crossed Feet, 1957 which achieved £239,400

WOMEN ARTISTS

Hannah Höch’s Doppelkopf c.1946, realised £239,400

Gabriele Münter’s Lampe im Fenster c.1912 sold for £378,000

Jacqueline Marval’s La bise d'automne, achieved £94,500, more than triple its high estimate, setting a new world auction record for the artist

ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

Henri Le Sidaner, La petite table (£604,800) 

Henri Fantin-Latour, Pois de senteur et nigelles (£252,000)

Arthur Segal Drei Figuren realised £233,100, more than double its high estimate

Christie’s 20/21 Art Sales continue with Le Grand Style: An apartment on the Quai d'Orsay designed by Alberto Pinto, Paris, which takes place on Thursday 30 June while the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale takes place in London on 1 July. Marc Chagall, Colour of Life: Prints and Artist's Books Formerly from the Artist's Estate remains open for bidding until 30 June and First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online is online until 5 July 2022.
