RELEASE : Christie's Important Jewels Online Auction - 4 to 18 November 2020

Jewellery, Watches & Handbags
London EMEA 30 October 2020

LONDON: Christie’s Important Jewels online auction from 4 to 18 November presents a diverse array of jewels dating from the late eighteenth century through to present day, from a group of Victorian insect brooches, opulent Belle Epoque and Art Deco jewels, bold yellow gold gem-set and enamel designs from the 1960s to 1980s, and a wide selection of signed contemporary pieces by the world’s most renowned jewellery houses including Bulgari, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Graff and Tiffany & Co. A highlight of the sale is a bracelet, formerly in the collection of the late Dame Vera Lynn, which will be sold to benefit The Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.

Leading lots of the sale include an elegant Edwardian garland design tiara (estimate £45,000-65,000), an impressive Art Deco diamond and ruby cabochon strap bracelet by Drayson (estimate £40,000-60,000), a rare antique foil-backed diamond collar necklace with a detachable cluster pendant (estimate £100,000-150,000), and a limited edition diamond ‘Crash’ bracelet watch by Cartier (estimate £40,000-60,000).

A  beautiful cultured pearl, diamond and enamel bracelet, formerly the property of the late Dame Vera Lynn (estimate £8,000-12,000), will be sold to benefit The Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity. Set up by Dame Vera in 2001, the charity has helped more than 600 families who have children affected by cerebral palsy. Known as Britain’s wartime Forces’ Sweetheart, the singer was a symbol of hope and fortitude right up until her recent death aged 103. The bracelet features an enamel plaque depicting the iconic image of blue birds flying over the White Cliffs of Dover in reference to Dame Vera’s great wartime hit record. This special and highly personal bracelet was made in 2007 by the Queen’s Jeweller Harry Collins to mark Dame Vera’s 90th birthday.

Bidding will open on 4 November and will begin closing lot by lot on 18 November.
