Prints & Multiples and 'Banksy: I can't believe you Morons actually buy this Sh*t' Sales now Live for Bidding
The Prints and Multiples online only sale, live for bidding from 16 to 31 March, features a wide selection of fine art prints by leading artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. There are a number of Pop Art highlights offered in the sale, including Andy Warhol’s Sunset (1972, estimate: £50,000 - 70,000), Shoes (1980, estimate: £50,000-70,000) and Queen Elizabeth II (1985, estimate: £100,000-150,000 illustration right), as well as Robert Rauschenberg’s Stuntman I (1962, estimate: £4,000-6,000) and Stuntman III (1962, estimate: £4,000 - GBP 6,000). Other highlights are a complete set of Alberto Burri’s Serigrafie (1986-88, estimate: £50,000 - 70,000), Lucian Freud’s Pluto aged twelve (2000, estimate: £40,000 - 60,000) and Edvard Munch’s Melancholy III (1902, estimate: £150,000-250,000 illustration left). The sale will also feature original lithographs by L. S. Lowry from the Estate of Carol Ann Lowry, a selection of landscapes in the artist’s unmistakable style. Prints by Henri Matisse from the Estate of Jacquelyn Miller Matisse, include Nu à l’étoile (1938, estimate: £9,000 - 12,000) a linocut of a celestial female nude and star and La Pompadour (1951, estimate : £3,500 - 4,500) a lithograph depicting a smiling female sitter, are highlights of this offering. The sale also presents works from the collection of Michael Abrams, son of the New York art book publisher and collector. James Rosenquist’s Marilyn (1974, estimate: £6,000-8,000), Roy Lichtenstein’s Modern Sculpture with Apertures (1967, estimate: £4,000 - 6,000), and Patrick Caulfield’s The Letter (1967, estimate: £2,500 - 3,000) seen together, provide insight into Abrams’ approach to collecting, his family’s connection to New York and the dialogues between Britain, Europe and America which formed the basis of Pop art in the 1950s.

'Banksy: I can’t believe you morons actually buy this sh*t’, the online-only sale dedicated to prints and editions by the artist, is live for bidding from 16 to 30 March. The sale, cheekily titled in homage to the artist’s Morons screenprint, will include an impression from the signed edition, Morons (White) (2007, estimate: £40,000 - 60,000). This auction is led by a signed impression of Banksy’s iconic, Love is in the Air (2003, estimate: £300,000-500,000 illustration above left), a very rare edition. Of an edition of 500, only the first 50 were signed. The sale also features a signed Girl with Balloon (2004, estimate: £300,000-500,000) and Pulp Fiction (2004, estimate: £100,000-150,000), some of Banksy’s best known screenprints. A further highlight is a unique impression of NOLA (Yellow Rain) – Outside of the edition (2008, estimate: £200,000-300,000 illustration above right). This image of a girl being drenched by rain, falling from inside of her umbrella, was originally conceived by the artist in response to the devastating events of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This unique variant, with a hand-finished dot on the ear, was created in 2009 and donated by the artist to a charity auction to raise funds for Great Ormond Street’s Cochlear Implant Unit. This work has remained in the same private collection since 2009, when purchased at the auction by the present owners.
