PRESS RELEASE | Christie’s Watches Department Presents The Season Of Masterpieces & Collections
Hong Kong – On 28 November, Christie’s Watches Department will host its Autumn live auction, presenting “The Ruby Series” – an astounding collection of eight of the most-coveted Patek Philippe ruby-set masterpieces manufactured from 1945 to 2015 (full release please see here), in addition to “The Property of An Important Distinguished Collector” – a single-owner collection of exceptional timepieces encompassing designs from vintage, modern and contemporary eras.
In total, the sale will offer 228 lots with a combined estimate ranging from HK$126 million – 229 million. The sale is poised to extend Christie’s market leadership in Asia in offering the finest Patek Philippe watches, as well as setting world auction records for iconic references from legendary watch brands.
Leading the sale is a true work of art by Patek Philippe – a unique and important platinum minute repeater perpetual calendar skeletonized wristwatch with retrograde date, moon phases and leap year indication, Ref. 5103, manufactured in 2004 (shown top right, estimate: HK$7,800,000 - 16,000,000/ US$1,000,000 - 2,000,000). Every part of this masterpiece is fine-tuned and assembled, to create perfect unison in tempo, pitch, duration and volume of the chime, embodying the pinnacle of a watchmaking craftsmanship.
