MEDIA ALERT: The Most Valuable Handbag in the World - "The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse"

Hong Kong – Christie’s is honored to offer the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse by internationally famed jeweler Robert Mouawad, which holds the world record for the most valuable handbag ever produced with an original price of US$3.8 million in 2010.

Taking its inspiration from one of the world’s most epic tales of romance, intrigue, and fantasy, the Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse incorporates 4,517 diamonds (105 yellow, 56 pink, and 4,356 colorless) with a total weight of 381.92 carats. This bejeweled masterpiece was hand-crafted by ten highly skilled artisans working for a total of 8,800 hours. In 2010 the Guinness World Records certified the piece as the most valuable handbag in the world.

This one-of-a-kind handbag will be sold through Private Sales and will be exhibited in the gallery of Christie’s Hong Kong until 20 Oct 2017, followed by a tour to Christie’s Geneva from 9 – 13 November before going to London.
