HANDBAGS ONLINE: THE NEW YORK EDIT

NEW YORK –Christie’s is delighted to present Handbags Online: The New York Edit, an online only sale, open for bidding from 30 May – 12 June 2023. The sale will offer the most exclusive and exceptionally well-crafted examples from Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and other iconic fashion houses. The full selection will be exhibited ahead of the sale as part of Christie’s New York Luxury Week between 2 June – 6 June.
The sale will feature a selection of handbags curated by Rebag including the top lot of the sale - an Hermès Barenia Leather Perspective Cavalière Kellywood With Palladium Hardware (Estimate $170,000 - $220,000), marking its first appearance in the American auction market. Christie’s is known to present single owner-collections from collectors with an astute eye for important styles, and this season is no exception; featured in the sale are the collections of Ellen Barkin and Jane Chapin.
The sale will also feature both of the newest and rarest examples of Hermès Faubourg Birkins: A Neige Faubourg Birkin 20 and a Minuit Faubourg Birkin 20, crafted from Béton Alligator, White Togo, Swift & Sombrero, Orange H & Craie Swift & Bleu Brume Chèvre Leather Snow Faubourg in Sellier with Palladium Hardware (Estimate $120,000 - $180,000) and Matte Black Alligator, Black Madame, Sombrero, and Orange H & Jaune Ambre Swift Leather in Sellier with PVD Hardware (Estimate $100,000 - $150,000), respectively. A favorite of serious collectors, the sale will also showcase a stunning and rare Hermès Matte White Niloticus Crocodile Himalaya Retourné Kelly 28 With Palladium Hardware (Estimate $100,000 - $150,000).
