Handbags & AccessoriesSPRING AUCTION HIGHLIGHTS

Hong Kong – Christie’s is excited to present a meticulously curated Handbags and Accessories live auction on 21 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The sale features over 230 lots of some of the most sought-after and rarest collectible pieces from legendary fashion houses such as Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel. With estimates ranging from HK$10,000 to HK$1,200,000, style connoisseurs and collectors worldwide will easily find their desired pieces at different budgets in this sale.
Led by “The Kellywood” – a rare, fauve barénia leather & bog oak Kellywood 22 with palladium hardware, Hermès 2020 (Estimate: HK$600,000 – 800,000, on cover), the auction will also offer other coveted designs from the revered brand including the renowned Himalaya, a selection of limited edition styles, prestigious custom-made pieces, charming Kelly Dolls, exotic skin handbags and lifestyle objects such as a collectible skateboard and poker box set. Other notable highlights include an exquisite leather trunk tower from Louis Vuitton, alongside art-inspired handbags from the maison’s collaborations with renowned contemporary artists Jonas Wood and Alex Israel.
HERMÈS HIMALAYA: THE HOLY GRAIL
The ravishing Hermès Himalaya bag is considered the Holy Grail in every handbag collection and is on the top of every serious collector’s auction wishlist. Expertly crafted from Nile crocodile hide, the superlative handbag was named after the delicate gradation of colour. The smoky grey fades into a pearly white, resembling the majestic, snow-capped Himalayas. Produced in extremely limited numbers, the Himalaya is one of the most desirable handbags in existence, regularly breaking records at Christie's, spawning a collecting phenomenon in its own right.
HERMÈS: THE HORSE SHOE STAMPS
Hermès custom-made pieces, also known as HSS bags, feature a special horseshoe stamp to the left of the Hermès stamp inside the bag. The emblem might be petite, but it increases the value of the bag significantly. The special custom-made service is offered to only a small group of top collectors, who will need to wait at least six months to three years to receive their bespoke stamped bags.
LOUIS VUITTON: TRUNK TOWER
Travelling with Louis Vuitton handmade leather trunks has long been a symbol of status and class.
The iconic designs, crafted in the most durable of materials, not only function as a luxury travel companion but doubles as collectible home décor.
