Karin Mamma Andersson, On Tenterhooks (2005, price realised: £756,000)

Contemporary female artists achieved top prices across the Day Sale

  • Karin Mamma Andersson’s otherworldly dreamscape On Tenterhooks led the sale, realising a world auction record price of £756,000, three times the high estimate of £250,000
  • Lynette Yiadom-Boakye’s Wishes Above Needs sold for £453,600
  • Following the extensive survey exhibition at Palazzo Grassi in Venice in 2022, Marlene DumasBondage sold for £289,000
  • Following the record set at Christie’s on 28 February 2023, three works by Caroline Walker were presented: Patrol sold for £113,400 (estimate: £30,000-50,000), Remarks on the Golden Bow realised £126,000 against an estimate of £100,000-150,000 and The Steam Room achieved £37,800
  • Flora Yukhnovich’s Untitled sold for £226,800 against an estimate of £60,000-80,000
  • Continuing the above estimate results achieved at Christie’s for Tracey Emin’s paintings, More Dreaming realised £226,800 (estimate: £60,000-80,000)

  • Peter Doig, Frozen Lake (£327,600)
  • Wolfgang Tillmans, Freischwimmer 39 (£302,400)
  • David Hockney, Armchair, Table and Lamp (£352,800)
  • William Kentridge, Peripheral Thought No. 1 (Nose Series) (£151,200)
