Responding to the strong global market momentum for Chinese classical furniture, Christie’s Hong Kong proudly presents The Cissy and Robert Tang Collection of Chinese Classical Furniture sale this spring, featuring a diverse selection of rare and exquisite huanghuali furniture and scholarly objects thoughtfully assembled over the past 30 years by the discerning collector Justice Robert Tang. The collection has been amassed from esteemed dealers and his cherished lifelong friends, including Robert Ellsworth, Cola Ma, and Ho Cheung. Christie’s has established long-lasting and loyal relationships with important and reputable museums,  institutions and collectors around the globe, and this season, Christie’s is honoured to present  “A Heritage of Appreciation – Selected Treasures from The Palmer Family Collection. Comprising 63 representative lots from one of the most significant private European collections of Chinese art, passed down from generation to generation of the Palmer Family, this sale includes examples of Imperial Qing porcelains, classic Ming blue and white porcelains, early ceramics, metal works, painted enamels, and jade carvings. Most pieces in the collection were widely exhibited in landmark exhibitions across Britain, namely the International Exhibition of Chinese Art at the Royal Academy in London in 1935 (please click HERE for the dedicated press release).

This Spring, Christie’s Hong Kong specially curates a dedicated Qianlong themed sale The Imperial Palette – Three Qianlong Treasures, which encompasses three exceptional and rare ceramics from the Qianlong period. The leading lot is a fine and extremely rare Doucai ‘Dragon’ Moonflask (estimate: HK$80,000,000 – 120,000,000 / US$10,200,000 – 15,300,000). The outstanding Chinese craftsmanship and important imperial decorative theme of this moonflask demonstrate its power and rarity. The fact that this example is coloured further contributes to its rarity, as Qianlong moonflasks of this size are more commonly found in blue and white (please click HERE for the dedicated press release).
