Christie’s and amfAR, the Foundation for Aids Research, Present From the Studio to Benefit amfAR
New York – Christie’s is pleased to continue its partnership with amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, with a group of contemporary artworks offered during the Spring Marquee Week of sales: From the Studio to Benefit amfAR. The sale will feature 14 lots to be offered in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day sale on 13 May 2022 in New York. Proceeds from the sale of the works will be donated to benefit amfAR’s efforts to end the global HIV/AIDS epidemic through innovative research. The collection of works presented have all been generously donated by the artists for this initiative, and many have never appeared at auction or been seen before publicly.

Christie’s ongoing work with amfAR is an important reflection of our values, and we thank all the artists who have generously donated their work.”

The top lot of the group is Leelee Kimmel’s No. 8 ($60,000-80,000). The artist debuted her first abstract works in 2018 with a dedicated solo show in Williamsburg. The collection is also highlighted by two examples from emerging female artists Soumya Netrabile and Karyn Lyons— Song in Pink and Orange and The Pajama Party, both estimated at $15,000-20,000. Also highlighting the sale is Candle as a portrait : ciao by New York-based emerging artist Alex Eagleton ($18,000-25,000).
The works will be on exhibition at 20 Rockefeller Plaza alongside highlights from the 20th and 21st Century Marquee Week sales from 30 April – 12 May.
