NEW APPOINTMENTS TO CHRISTIE’S GLOBAL POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ART DEPARTMENTS
Christie’s announces the following new appointments to the Post-War and Contemporary Art departments, which will further strengthen its global market-leading team.
Marcus Fox joins as Global Managing Director, Post-War and Contemporary Art, responsible for the management and business strategy of the international department. He will work closely with the Chairman’s Office, Client Strategy, Marketing and the Specialists to maximise opportunities for this category across all sales channels. Marcus joins from Sotheby’s where he held a series of senior leadership positions, most recently, Senior Vice President, Head of Contemporary Business, Americas. Previously, he was Head of Private Sales, Americas.
Mariolina Bassetti, Christie’s most senior ambassador for the category, becomes Chairman, Post-War and Contemporary Art, Continental Europe alongside her role as Chairman, Christie’s Italy. A leading specialist of long-standing experience and known for her commitment to clients, Mariolina will focus on top client development, business-getting and strategy for the region as well as mentoring talent.
Edmond Francey will continue to work with top-level clients and objects in Europe, with particularly focus in France, Belgium and Switzerland.
Katharine Arnold and Cristian Albu, have been appointed International Directors, Co-Heads of the Department in Europe. Together as a dynamic team they will lead the European department on a day-to-day basis, as well as working on longer term strategies in partnership with the global team. Katharine will focus on top-end business, working on the strategy and delivery of deals in partnership with the International Commercial Office. Cristian will focus on management of the London team and developing the overall vision and curation strategy for the sales programme.
Alice de Roquermaurel continues in her role as Head of Private Sales across Europe. The leadership team will report into Marcus Fox, who starts at Christie’s today.
Following the announcement of David Hockney’s 1969 portrait of Henry Geldzahler and Christopher Scott from the collection of Barney A. Ebsworth, to be sold in March in London, the team looks forward to continued success and innovation in the months to come, serving a growing audience of collectors on a global basis.
