New York – Christie’s is pleased to present the second iteration of Jewels Online: Summer Sparkle (August 4-18). This curated online-only auction celebrates the world’s most sought-after gemstone—the diamond. The combination of a diamond’s unparalleled hardness and crystalline purity has merited its celebrated status and established the stone as the pinnacle of all gemstones. From classic colorless diamonds, to a wide variety of rare colors spanning pinks, oranges, greens, browns and yellows this sale offers comprehensive selection of the celebrated stone including a dedicated selection of jewels offered without reserve.
Leading the sale is the spectacular 24.45 carat D color, IF, Type IIa heart-shaped diamond pendant ($1,550,000-2,550,000). The 24.45 carat, D color, heart modified brilliant-cut diamond possesses a purity of color and transparency which can only be found in world’s finest natural diamonds. This magnificent stone also belongs to the rare Type IIa category, which make up less than 2% of all diamonds. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure and are characterized by their exceptional transparency. These stones have no traces of the colorant nitrogen, which create a purity of color that is observed only in the finest diamonds originating from the fabled mines of Golconda, Brazil and South Africa.
