LOS ANGELES – Christie’s Americas Wine Department is pleased to announce outstanding results with the recent sales of The Two Continents Collection – The Private Cellar of Irwin Kotovsky Online: Part I and Fine and Rare Wines Online: Featuring the Ruan Collection for a total of $2,252,188.


The Two Continents Collection – The Private Cellar of Irwin Kotovsky Online: Part I, totaled $1,343,438, with 100% sold by lot and 124% hammer above low estimate. The sale saw competitive bidding around the globe with over 20 auction records set. The sale featured 582 lots and represented the world’s most sought-after wines. Mr. Kotovsky, a passionate collector, assembled a spectacular cellar over his lifetime. Outstanding results were achieved for Madeira and Port, a Barbeito, Terrantez 1802 (1 bottle per lot) which sold for $22,500, 11 times higher than its low estimate.
Fine and Rare Wines Online: Featuring the Ruan Collection totaled $908,750 94% by lot and 111% hammer above low estimate, the featured Ruan collection was 100% sold by lot and saw competitive bidding with participation from 14 countries. Throughout the sale several auction records were set. The auction featured 245 lots from the greatest winemaking regions around the globe, the top lot of the sale was a superlative Petrus 2000 (6 bottles per lot) which sold for $40,000.

These White Glove collections were both 100% by lot, far exceeding their pre-sale estimates. Offered in dual on-line sales, the auctions garnered interest from our global client base, bidding was competitive and intense. Spectacular results throughout with multiple world records across all categories.”
