THE HEROES FOR IMAGINE CHARITY SALE RAISES €8.16M IN AID OF THE IMAGINE INSTITUTE

Paris – The fourth edition of Heroes for Imagine was a resounding success on Monday 12 September during a special event held at the Imagine Institute. Raising a total of €8.16m in a single evening, this year’s charity sale achieved the greatest result in its history. Heroes for Imagine continues to support the efforts of the Imagine Institute, the world's leading centre for research, treatment and teaching on genetic diseases. Since its launch in 2015, this remarkable initiative spearheaded by Kamel Mennour in collaboration with Christie's and Galerie kreo has raised €22 million for research.

Cécile Verdier and Julien-Vincent Brunie, along with François de Ricqlès, wielded the gavel to auction 38 lots to enthusiastic bidders. A fine selection of artworks and some exceptional experiences were offered to the generous donors by the Heroes for Imagine partners.

Of the lots sold, nine new world records were set for auctions, including two pieces donated by Galerie kreo: the Signal F2 Monochromatic lamp by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby sold for €110,000 and the World Leaders ED.1 ladder by the prolific designer Virgil Abloh sold for €400,000. The kamel mennour gallery also presented an oil on canvas for sale, Untitled by Dhewadi Hadjab, which was purchased for €200,000. Record prices were set for Ymane Chabi-Gara, Camille Henrot, Tadashi Kawamata, Jeremy Demester, Kassou Seydou and Bertrand Lavier. The art piece by Amoako Boafo, donated by the Mariane Ibrahim gallery, sold for €320,000.

“Once again, Heroes for Imagine has managed to raise significant sums of money thanks to the generosity of the partners, donors and personalities involved in the project. We are very proud to be part of this wonderful venture, which gives more support to this flagship institute for research into genetic diseases with each edition. ”
