Hong Kong – on 24 November Christie’s Fine and Rare Wines auction totaled HK$38,599,628/US$4,954,499 with an exceptional sell-through rate of 88% by lot and 95% by value. The heated saleroom attracted strong participation from 9 countries across 3 continents, achieving 100% sold for the collection of century old Madeira, vintages from Kloster Eberbach and Van Volxem, and South African wines.
Notable results include the top lot of South African wines, Vilafonté Series ''M'' 2007 (6 bottles per lot, HK$13,475/US$1,730 against its low estimate of HK$3,000/US$385, shown left) which achieved the highest price at auction.
D. Bolger, Bastardo 1889 (1 bottle per lot, HK$19,600/US$2,516 against its low estimate of HK$8,000/US$1,027), Kloster Eberbach Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder Cabinet Natur 1959 (3 bottles (700ml) per lot, HK$110,250/US$14,151).
