Andrew Waters, Head of Private Collections & Country House Sales, Christie's: "This result, which doubled pre-sale expectations, is a testament to the informed eye of Sting and Trudie Styler. Works from the Art Collection that they so lovingly displayed at their former family home at Queen Anne's Gate attracted international interest at Christie's, with registered bidders from 35 countries across 5 continents competing for works dating from the 17th to the 21st century. The Sale was led by Ben Nicholson's 'March 55 (amethyst)' which doubled its pre-sale high estimate, realising £1,022,500, and Sting's Steinway grand piano also sparked fiercely competitive bidding, realising £116,500."
