RESULTS | Finest & Rarest Wines and Spirits Featuring A Superlative Private Collection
Hong Kong – On 27 March, Christie’s Wine Department kicked off the first sale of the year for the category , having achieved HK$27,766,500/ US$3,590,856, 96% sold by lot and 114% hammer above low estimate. The sale attracted heated bidding across 3 continents, with over half of the sale sold via Christie’s LiveTM.
Sale Highlights:
A Superlative Private Single-Owner Collection was 100% sold, achieving 125% hammer above low estimate.
- Leading the selection of Bordeaux First Growth was Château Lafite-Rothschild 2000, 12 bottles per lot, sold for HK$125,000/ US$16,165.
- Petrus remained sought-after by collectors, achieving 117% hammer above low estimate. Leading this session was Petrus 1990, 12 bottles per lot, sold for HK$500,000/ US$64,662.
- DRC continued to command strong prices, led by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Assortment 2015 in original wooden cases, 15 bottles per lot, sold for HK$600,000/ US$77,594 (1.5 times over low estimate).
- The selection of Domaine Prieuré-Roch achieved 164% hammer above low estimate, led by Chambertin Clos de Bèze Pure 2001, 3 magnums per lot, sold for HK$162,500/ US$21,015.
- Burgundies from Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils also realised great prices, realising 153% hammer above low estimate, led by La Romanée 2003, 3 bottles per lot, sold for HK$30,000/ US$3,880.
- Other notable results include: Domaine Faiveley, Chevalier-Montrachet 2014, 6 bottles per lot, sold for HK$21,250/ US2,748; Dom Pérignon P2 1995, 12 bottles per lot, sold for HK$62,500/ US$8,083.
