Chris Munro, Head of London Wine Department commented: “A tremendous start to wine sales in London for 2015.  We witnessed significant bidding throughout the sale on rare Bordeaux and Burgundy along with some spectacular prices for rare Champagne.  We were particularly pleased with the performance of The Collection of R. A. B. Bottomley which doubled its pre-sale estimate. Highlights from the collection included 12 bottles of Bonnes-Mares Vieilles Vignes Clair Dau 1971 which realised £12,950 against an estimate of £4,500-5,500 and rare full cases of Taittinger, Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1976, estimated at £1,800-2,400, achieved an impressive £8,800. We are also honoured to have raised £22,790 on behalf of the L’Union Des Gens De Metier to help their co-member and friend François Chidaine, in Montlouis-sur-Loire, whose Domaine was devastated by hail in Vouvray in 2013. We look forward to our first London online only sale of 2015 which opens on the 31 March 2015, followed by our next King Street sale ‘Fine & Rare Wines including Three Superb Private Collections’ on the 30 April 2015.”

Next Sale: London Signature Cellars: Online Only, 31 March - 14 April 2015
