Hong Kong – On Wednesday, November 27, 2013, the sale of Important Watches achieved HK$171,680,625/ US$22,249,809 and sold 92% by lot and by value. Sam Hines, Head of the Watches Department, Asia, said, “The most coveted watches from vintage to contemporary realized exceptional prices specifically for thirteen state-of-the-art wristwatches by Rolex from the Day-Date Collection, which was 100% sold. With five to eight bidders, four Patek Philippe Ref. 3970 all achieved well above their estimates, including the rare rose salmon dial with Breguet numerals that fetched HK$2.6 million/ US$339,552, a world auction record for the reference. We witnessed fierce competition in the room and on Christie's LIVE™ for antique pocket watches especially from manufacturers like Patek Philippe. We look forward to continuing this momentum and setting the stage for a record year with our final watch sale of the season in New York on December 17.” Images & top ten results can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0mvsiszvgvgzv0q/gBZv7UuH84 To view the full auction results: http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/salebrowse.aspx?intSaleid=24319&viewType=list
