Hong Kong – On Saturday, November 23, 2013, the Evening Sale of Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art realised HK$934,975,000/US$121,172,760, and sold in excess of 96% by lot and 98% by value.
Eric Chang, International Director of Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art, said, “Christie's Evening Sale of Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art achieved HK$934.9 million/US$121.2 million - the highest total ever at Christie's Hong Kong. The sale was rich with works that exemplified the theme of ‘The Golden Era’, led by an exceptional group of works from Zeng Fanzhi, Chu Teh-Chun, and Sanyu. We also achieved six new world auction records, from a diverse group of artists and from all decades of the 20th century, underlying the appetite for masterpieces. The results redefined the value of Asian Art for now and the future.”
