A standout result of the sale was a Richard Mille 18K White Gold Tonneau-Shaped Skeletonised Tourbillon Wristwatch, made to Commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Boucheron, which realised HK$3,640,000 / US$$470,953 (illustrated left).
The sale attracted international interest with buyers from 26 countries across 5 continents, all bidding on blue chip brands, as well as offerings from independent watchmakers, demonstrating an international demand for high quality and unique timepieces.
The top lot of the season was an 18K White Gold Semi-Skeletonised Tourbillon Prototype Wristwatch by Greubel Forsey, Philippe Dufour and Michel Boulanger, which realised HK$11,296,000 / US$1,461,507 (illustrated left).
A proportion of the sale proceeds and the entire Christie's buyer's premium will be donated to the Time Aeon Foundation by the seller. The foundation aspires to perpetuate the expertise of manual watchmaking and to train future generations in the revival of this art.
