Hong Kong – The spring season’s four sales of Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art on Wednesday, May 29 achieved HK$584,806,250 (US$75,673,929), and sold in excess of 71% by lot and 81% by value.

 

Chi Fan Tsang, Specialist Head of Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art, said, “The YC Chen Collection, which was 100% sold and quadrupled the pre-sale estimate, has again proved that great works with respected provenance continue to generate huge interest and demand from collectors. The Yiqingge Collection, The Imperial Cloisonné Collection, and The Imperial Sale saw strong results, ranging from rare archaic bronze wine vessels, notably you, sold for HK$37,950,000/US$4,910,730; a very rare famille rose ‘pomegranate’ meiping sold for HK$14,430,000/US$1,867,242; to a rare large huanghuali floor screen, zuoping, which sold for HK$3,150,000/US$407,610, and a rare Jian ware ‘oil-spot’ conical bowl from the Song dynasty sold for HK$1,950,000/US$252,330.”
