Hong Kong – The Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art spring auctions on Wednesday, May 28 achieved HK$545,231,875/ US$70,662,051, and sold 60% by lot and 60% by value.

Chi Fan Tsang, Specialist Head of Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art Department, Christie’s Hong Kong, said, We were pleased to see that our initiative to present a special Song showcase for the Works of Arts sale was well-received, with robust prices for imperial Song ceramics and jade indicative of growing enthusiasm for this classic era of Chinese culture. Enthusiasm and the taste for a diversity of mediums were reflected in Through Connoisseurs' Eyes - Works of Art for the Emperor: from the classic mughal-style white jade bowl to an embellished gilt-bronze vase from the Qianlong period, we saw sustained interest from collectors for such treasures. Both Imperial Chinese Treasures From A Distinguished American Collection and The Imperial Sale exhibited the continued taste for highly decorated porcelains in the Asian market and the desire for well provenanced pieces in good condition
