Peter van der Graaf, Head of the department: The Evening Sale kicked off with a world auction record for Otto Piene with Rasterbild (€553,500). It proved to be the upbeat for an extreme successful auction of Post-War & Contemporary Art with further world auction records for Rotraut and Henk Peeters, robust results for CoBrA artists such as Karel Appel and Pierre Alechinsky, as well as ZERO artists such as Jef Verheyen, Jan Schoonhoven and Heinz Mack. Property from the Hoffmeister Collection from Germany sold 100% and included the top lot by Günther Uecker. We look forward to our upcoming auctions of Post-War & Contemporary Art in Milan 28-29 April and Paris 3-4 June 2015." | ||||||
