Hong Kong – Christie’s wine fall season kicks off in Hong Kong on September 11 and 12 with an exciting selection of wines from three major Asian consignors. Over 10,000 bottles of top French and Australian wines as well as a choice collection of Bollinger champagne in exceptional condition will be offered at auction in a sale that will excellently display the refined and unique Asian passion for wine.
The auction will commence with a top quality selection of the finest French wines from the Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhône regions to be offered from a prestigious private Asian collection. Multiple vintages of all the First Growths, Pétrus, Le Pin, Ausone and Cheval Blanc will be featured, including two cases of six bottles of Le Pin 2000 estimated at HK$140,000-200,000 / US$18,000-26,000 (illustrated top left).
Consigned from Japan is an appealing selection of mature vintages from Champagne Bollinger. Amongst the most interesting bottles featured in this section are RD 1990 & 1995, Grande Année 1997, Grande Année Rosé 1999 and the extremely rare ‘pre-phylloxera’ Vieilles Vignes Françaises 1998 offered in individual wooden presentation cases (estimate: HK$48,000-70,000 / US$6,000-9,000; illustrated top centre). Another top lot of this collection is a case of 12 bottles of Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut 1990 estimated at HK$20,000-30,000 / US$2,600-3,800.
The sale is further complemented by the private collection of renowned Hong Kong wine merchant Peter Chu, which displays a spectrum of the most iconic Australian wines, including mature Shiraz, but also comprises of a large offering of Classed Growth Bordeaux, such as lots 390 to 393 (illustrated top right).
A wide range of estimate levels means that many lots are accessible to all wine enthusiasts,

This collection includes extremely rare wines from exceptional vintages, including Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Mouton Rothschild, Pétrus, Château La Fleur-Pétrus, Le Pin, Château d’Yquem, Cheval Blanc, Maison Louis Jadot and many more.

A collection of BOLLINGER CHAMPAGNE

Renaudin Bollinger was founded in 1829 in the Champagne region of France by the Count of Villermont, local winemaker M. Renaudin and Jacques Bollinger, who married the Count’s daughter. Upon the deaths of his partners, Bollinger remained the sole owner of the newly renamed Société Jacques Bollinger.
In 1941, the Scottish-born Lily Bollinger became director of the house, and her touch has had a lasting impression on the face of the business.
Bollinger is one of the only Champagne Houses owned privately and by its founding family and has become a worldwide powerhouse in the Champagne market while staying true to its founding ethos and pursuit of perfection 3. THE PRIVATE WINE COLLECTION OF PETER CHU Lots 374 - 700 The Collection of Peter Chu features an impressive array of Classed Growth Bordeaux, fine Port, Italian and Australian Icon wines.
