This October, Christie’s Hong Kong will present The Pavilion Sale – Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art. The one-day auction features an eclectic selection of Chinese works of art, including jade carvings from the Feng Wen Tang Collection, Song and Qing dynasty ceramics and various scholar’s objects such as lacquer, bamboo and bronze pieces. Historically, the material referred as jade in China is nephrite, a stone indigenous to China. Jade collecting has been popular among the Chinese nobility since the dawn of Chinese civilization. Various jade carvings will be offered for sale in the Feng Wen Tang Collection, which allows connoisseurs to appreciate small jade carvings which have enthralled Chinese elites for centuries.
