FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE PAVILION SALE- Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art
On 5 April, 2016, Christie’s will host The Pavilion Sale, the third sale in this successful series, first introduced in October 2014.
The specially curated sale offers an exciting array of pieces, showcasing works across dynasties and colleting categories, from Song dynasty monochrome ceramics to Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain.
With estimates ranging from HKD 15,000 to HKD 3,500,000 the sale offers an accessible platform for all buyers looking to start or expand their collections of Chinese art.
Ruben Lien, Vice President, Senior Specialist, commented “The Pavilion sale was curated to present a range of distinctive pieces to engage both newer and established collectors alike, encouraging the incorporation of such works into a refined lifestyle. For the first time this season, the sale will also present a group of classical Chinese paintings, extending the diverse choices on offer, enriching collections with works on different medium”.
Among an expansive range of porcelain, jades, bamboo, lacquer, bronze and other works on offer, a tightly curated selection of Song ceramics encompassing various kilns across China form a highlight of the sale. With spectacular glaze colours and forms, these pieces, including tea bowls, ewers, vases and incense burners, which not only demonstrate the subtle aesthetics distinct to Song ceramics, but also allow contemporary collectors to integrate the concepts of tea brewing, flower arranging, incense burning and painting appreciation into their modern lifestyle, reliving the ‘Four Arts of Life’ celebrated by Song dynasty literati.
