PRESS RELEASE | Art Adorned Christie's X Dolce&Gabbana | Private Sales
London - With decadent curation and design, Art Adorned will celebrate important Old Master Paintings and Decorative Arts, curated alongside couture garments and jewels from Dolce&Gabbana’s Alta Moda and Alta Gioielleria Collections, tracing the enduring influence on fashion of centuries-old canvases and sartorial flourishes inspired by history. This exhibition will open to the public on November 22 running until December 3, 2019 at Christie’s London.
Fine art has been an enduring influence on the Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda and Alta Gioielleria Collections, their homage to unabashed luxury and Italian craftsmanship. Art Adorned will present a seductive and opulent immersion into the influences of the Renaissance, the Baroque, Rococo and Florals, with garments and jewels shown together with a selection of works celebrating master painters, sculptors and craftsmen from the 14th to the 18th century.
Amjad Rauf, International Head of Masterpiece and Private Sales, Decorative Arts and Sandra Romito, Senior Consultant Old Master Paintings UK, of Christie’s comment: “Art Adorned recognises the enduring influence of Old Master and Decorative Arts works in contemporary life today, connecting with collectors and simultaneously enabling the work to be even more accessible to new and younger audiences.”
Art Adorned will be open to the public at Christie’s, 8 King Street, St James’s, London SW1Y 6QT, and with items on view available for purchase privately.
Viewing dates and times: 22 November to 3 December; weekdays 9am-4.30pm and weekends 12pm-5pm.
