NEW YORK – December 5, 2023, Christie’s online sale JAY-Z: The Book of HOV Celebrating an Icon at the Brooklyn Public Library concluded the day after the exhibition’s final day, totaling $126,000. This one-of-a-kind auction, presented by Christie’s and Roc Nation, was comprised of a single-lot: a black leather case crafted by Pinel et Pinel, signed by JAY-Z, containing 14 limited-edition metal library cards—13 of which showcased different artwork from each of JAY-Z’s solo studio albums, and one The Book of HOV commemorative card, as well as a metal bookmark. Proceeds from the sale will directly support the Brooklyn Public Library.

Elizabeth Seigel, Christie’s Head of Private and Iconic Collection, says: “It was an absolute honor for Christie’s to work with the legendary JAY-Z and the entire Roc Nation team on this fantastic project in benefit of the Brooklyn Public Library. The Book of HOV exhibition, which kicked off this summer and concluded yesterday on JAY-Z's birthday, was a historic moment for New York City, paying tribute to the immense impact that the musical icon has had on culture for generations. We are proud to have been a part of this celebration and were truly thrilled by the outcome. From the day the sale opened, the sale was met with unfettered enthusiasm. We saw strong participation with deep bidding from an incredible cross-section of Christie’s clients.”
