DOMAINE PONSOT

Geneva – Christie’s Domaine Ponsot – The 150 Year Jubilee Celebration, Finest & Rarest Wines direct from the cellar achieved CHF1,345,375 / $1,362,250 / €1,364,441 and sold 100% by lot. The sale offered 261 lots comprising over 400 bottles during the live sale in Geneva’s Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues. This exceptional offering attracted interest from 14 countries with 21% of first-time bidders.

The sale was highlighted by Lot 185, a barrel of Domaine Ponsot, Clos de la Roche Cuvée Hippolyte 2022, which sold for CHF 175,000 with premium, doubling the pre-sale estimate to a Taiwanese collector. The hammer-price proceeds from this lot will be donated to “A Chacun son Everest”, a charity which supports children afflicted by cancer or leukaemia.

Edwin Vos, Christie’s International Head of Wine & Spirits Department, commented: Domaine Ponsot is one of the most highly regarded Burgundy wine producers with a long history going back to 1872. 150 years later, Christie’s was honoured to host this unique auction to celebrate this landmark anniversary. The outstanding results of the sale, which achieved CHF1.4 million and was 100% sold, demonstrates Christie’s international outreach, and the global demand for outstanding Burgundy wines from both existing clients and new collectors. We are now looking forward to our two online sales Fine and Rare Wines Online: Geneva Edit, which closes for bidding on 16 November, and the first Spirits sale ever held from Geneva highlighted by a 55 year old Yamazaki whisky, which closes for bidding on 17 November.”
