CHRISTIE'S SUPPORTS CHANGE 100 TO FACILITATE WORK PLACEMENTS IN SUMMER 2021
London - Christie’s announces a new partnership with Change 100, the flagship programme run by pan-disability charity Leonard Cheshire, to facilitate paid work placements in 2021 for talented university students with disabilities. Christie’s will welcome two candidates to their London King Street headquarters (or virtually) from June offering a three-month experience working closely with our teams. In addition, Christie’s will fund two placements in public museums, Tate and National Galleries of Scotland, as initiated by Change 100.
“We are thrilled to have Christie’s support to find opportunities for our interns within the arts world,” said Julia Grant, Employer Relationship Manager at Change 100. “Change 100 aims to remove barriers experienced by disabled people in the workplace and allow them to achieve their potential. After the impact of Covid-19 on the sector, this funding is really important in allowing us to work with two new cultural institutions to unlock more graduate talent. The placements at Tate and National Galleries of Scotland are a fantastic opportunity for candidates to showcase their skills and gain crucial experience for their careers.”
“Christie’s wishes to actively use our role in the art world to engage with talent from broader cultural, social and economic backgrounds as well as with disabilities. Inclusion drives innovation; and we value different experiences and expertise,” said Alexandra Gill, Senior Specialist and Member of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. “We are delighted to be working with Change 100 to give broader access to leading arts institutions to talented individuals.”
Kim McCabe, Director of Human Resources at the National Galleries of Scotland said: "Equality, diversity and inclusion are key areas of focus for the National Galleries of Scotland. We are grateful to our partners at Christie’s for enabling this opportunity, and to the team at Change 100 as they work to match us with an individual who will really benefit from it. We look forward to seeing the contributions that the successful candidate will bring to our work, while at the same time enhancing their own future employability in the art sector."
