RELEASE | CHRISTIE'S NEW YORK APRIL WINE

New York Americas 5 April 2016

New York – Christie’s is proud to share its April Wine sales line-up, with the first live New York auction of the season on April 16. More than 300 lots provide a curated assortment of the rarest wines and spirits currently on offer and seen at auction. The selection includes an exemplary collection of vintage champagne from Krug, Dom Pérignon and Salon Le Mesnil, along with an outstanding collection of fine Burgundy, First Growth Bordeaux and rarities from the Rhône.

The sale also includes The Glenlivet, The Winchester 50 Year old 1964, one of only 100 bottles produced and one of the greatest bottles of whisky ever released. We’re also delighted to offer another selection of bottles of Pre-Prohibition Overholt Rye Whisky distilled between 1908 and 1911 and offered in quart and pint sized bottles, a true rarity and piece of American history.

Christie’s is also proud to be entrusted with the sale of The Old Liquors American Presidents Collection’, from the Property of Mr. B. Van Der Bunt, being auctioned off during the April 13 New York Exceptional live sale. The astounding lot compromises 39 bottles of vintage Cognac and Armagnac, each dating to a United States Presidential term from George Washington through Jimmy Carter, Vintage 1789 – 1977.  Almost 200 years of American history is captured in this amazing offering, including Courvoisier 1884, Marnier-Lapostolle 1865, Otard Dupuy 1865, Bisquit Dubouché 1858, Pierre Chabanneau 1850, Meukow 1842, AE Dor 1840 along with one extremely rare bottle of 1789 Grand Champagne Cognac. Never before has such a collection of historic Cognac and Armagnac been offered for sale.
