RESULTS | Christie’s Hong Kong Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art auction series totalled HK$ 731 million / US$ 95 million
On 28 and 29 November 2015, Christie’s Hong Kong held four auctions of Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art, including Convergences: A Special Sale of Singapore Art, which together realised a total of HK$730,653,750 / US$94,715,527.
Eric Chang, Deputy Chairman, International Director of Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art, commented: “For the four sales that took place over the weekend we’ve seen continued strong appetite across all categories and regions, especially in Asian abstract and Southeast Asian Art, with more than 20 new artist records. The sales have grown to become a converging platform for both new and established artists from different categories of Asian 20th century and contemporary art. There was intense bidding not only for works by masters such as Sanyu, Park Seo-Bo and Cheong Soo Ping; but we also saw keen interest for a range of young and emerging artists, especially from China and Japan.”
