The sale was 77% sold by lot and 90% sold by value, with buyers from 7 countries and 2 continents. The top lot for the sale was Northern Peaks by Li Huayi (illustrated right), which realised HK$4,240,000 / US$548,583.
Please click HERE for the results of Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy sale which was held on 30 May 2016 and totalled HK$83,456,250 / US$10,797,793. The sale was 64% sold by lot and 83% sold by value, with buyers from 18 countries and 4 continents. The top lot for the sale was Autumn Landscape by Zhang Ruo’ai, which realised HK$18,040,000 / US$2,334,064, far exceeding its high estimate.
Please click HERE for the results of the sale of Fine Chinese Modern Paintings held on 31 May 2016 which totalled HK$ 375,249,000 / US$ 48,550,719. The sale was 76% sold by lot and 81% sold by value, with 245 buyers from 10 countries. The top lot was Guanyin in Early Tang Style by Zhang Daqian, which realised HK$ 50,520,000/ US$ 6,534,105.
For the first time ever, an online sale entitled Exquisite Eye: Fine Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy was held, which realised a total of HK$7,496,250 / US$969,542, close to twice the low estimate. 45% of lots exceeded their high estimate with active bidding from new clients to Christie’s.
