The top lot, A Rare Pair Of Huanghuali “Four-Corner’s Exposed’ Official’s Hat Armchairs, Sichutouguanmaoyi, realised HK$ 4,360,000 / US$564,722 (illustrated left).
Chi Fan Tsang, Senior Vice President, Specialist Head of Department, commented, “The sale generated solid results with 74% sold by lot and 88% by value and we were encouraged to see a younger generation begin their collecting journey with enthusiastic bidding. The sale reflected robust demand for top quality pieces, especially for mid-range Ming and Qing porcelain and Works of Art, and we witnessed buyers exploring pre-song ceramics as well as early wares. These are very encouraging results and we look forward to our next major sales on 1 June, comprising 'Classical Chinese Art from the Sui to the Song Dynasties', 'The Imperial Sale' as well as 'Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art”.
